Murray and Nicola have both competed on the national and international circuit since a young age and have experience up to Grand Prix Level. They are both currently competing with a string of horses that they have produced themselves.

As a young rider Nicola set up her own yard and was part of the Northern Young Rider Excel Squad training locally with rider Louise Whitaker. Nicola has qualified twice for the Horse of the Year Show on her horse Just Call Me Max, who was bred by Nicola's mother Elizabeth; she achieved 7th in the Newcomers Final 2009 and 8th in the Talent Seekers Final 2013. Nicola is a BS UKCC Level three coach, a member of the 2016/17 Excel Coaching Programme and is currently a coach on the 2017 Step up to Gold Programme.    

 Murray jumped on many Home Pony Teams for Scotland as a Pony rider, and qualified for Horse of the Year Show several times as a young rider. He was based at John Whitaker's yard for two years where he trained and worked breaking and producing the young horses. This allowed Murray to gain valuable experience from a rider regarded as one of the best in the world, and John was impressed with Murray's  abilities, calling him patient, sympathetic and kind. Murray then moved back home to Scotland where he set up his own yard riding for several owners.
